ARTIST STATEMENT
Imagining art brings me ambition and purpose.
Giving life to my imagination brings me challenge and excitement.
Achieving those challenges brings me satisfaction and happiness.
Art inspires me to aim higher, to learn from my mistakes, and to feel accomplished. I do what I do because art gives me the drive and the motivation to push my creativity forward. I thirst for the feeling of happiness and belonging that the creative process allows me to feel from the beginning to the end of the journey.
I make my artistic decisions following my gut feeling. I like to go with the flow and do what my instincts pull me towards. I think it's best to feel inspired, to let that inspiration drive me, and see where it takes me. Fighting through the difficulties throughout the process is a part of learning. I believe we can fail better by using each mistake and accident as a chance to improve and discover.
In my past, I have worked with medias such as photography, graphics, and text. Written work and storytelling intrigues me a lot. In 2018, I wrote a short novel inspired by Ernest Hemingway's literary style. I also work as a fashion model, so editorial photography is a big influence to me. Some fashion photographers that inspire me include Meiji Nguyen, Charlotte Wales, Jingna Zhang, and Jeremy Choh.
From now on, I hope to explore more about film medias, such as camerawork, montage, and sound.
